Chicago jet fuel spikes 10.25 cents over two days

Analytics report a rise of Chicago jet fuel. It spiked 5.25 cents Monday and 10.25 cents over two trading days, says S&P Global Platts. Meanwhile participants seek out on-spec barrels in the spot market.

Earlier this month Explorer Pipeline has cancelled its 39th shipping cycle from the Gulf Coast to Chicago. The company explains that there is no room for jet storage at some terminals and tanks. At the same time other sources, S&P Global Platts states, are sure: the fuel failed jet fuel thermal oxidation tester (JFTOT) thermal stability standards.

Another unnamed trader said the Shell Des Plaines terminal that takes fuel from suppliers farther into the region is working hard to provide consumers with on-spec and adequate jet fuel. They are resolving off-spec issues through additives and filtering.

Sources are sure that the Explorer’s 41st cycle will arrive next week with resupply.
