Chaika NN Got to the Final of Harlamov Cup

Chaika NN hockey club from Nizhny Novgorod won in a match against Lokomotiv with the final score 1:0. It made it possible for the club to get to the finals of Harlamov Cup.

It seemed like this series will turn out to be a failure after two defeats in a row. However, head coach found ways to encourage his team and make necessary corrections in gaming strategy.

Nizhny Novgorod team showed great defensive play. Its rivals were absolutely hopeless while trying to create any slight of attacking play. Players were patiently waiting for their chance to score. One of their counterattacks turned out to be successful. Before that Chaika had another chance to take the lead. But Igor Rudenkov hit the poster.

When two periods were over, it was clear that results of this game will be determined by on goal. Loko players were not able to use their advantage during the Power Play in the third period. The score was still 0:0. On the other hand Nizhny Novgorod players showed true heroism while defending their goalie. Denis Shurakov managed to score one-and-only goal in this match 4 minutes before the final whistle.

This win led to a final victory in the whole series making it possible for Chaika to play in the finals. First games of the final will take place on April 19 and 20 at 5p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
