CBOE will start trading on December 10

In a statement released today, the firm said that trading will begin at 5 pm. CT, with the first full day of trading beginning on Monday. Trading on the CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) under the "XBT" ticker, the company added in its issue that the futures product trade would be free until the end of December.

The announcement is noteworthy given that the future of bitcoin, which will be launched by the CME Group, will be aired on next week on December 18.

Ed Tilly, chairman and CEO of CBOE, said in a statement:
"Given the unprecedented interest in bitcoin, we are committed to encouraging fairness and liquidity in the bitcoin market. To promote this, we will initially offer XBT futures trading for free."

Confirmation of the launch occurs a few months after the exchange on the basis of Chicago first detailed about their plans to create a bitcoin futures product. At that time, in August the CBOE was working with the New York Stock Exchange Gemini, run by investors Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, before launching.

This step also occurs during the rise in prices for bitcoin. The cryptocurrency is currently trading at about $11,400.
