Energy experts are worried about the situation in the Caspian region. As Oilprices.com says citing Global Risk Insights, the spot may become the next hotbed for Islamic extremists thus investors should take precautions if they are interested in the inventories in the region. Even though the Caspian region is not a frequent visitor of news headlines like Istanbul or Paris, rumors say some future risks are popping up in both Central Asia and the caucuses. Investors should carefully observe extremist activity in these countries as well as watch ISIS’ development. The subject of experts’ worries is the unstable situation in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Georgia and Azerbaijan. There are some data that many citizens from the above-mentioned countries are becoming ISIS fighters. Moreover the region has a history of Islamic terrorism before ISIS. It is very likely that Georgia and its neighbors will see a growth in local terrorism in the coming years, posing a further threat to energy investors. |
