Banco Santander holds an upward trend
Banco Santander has seen profits increase in the last quarter of last year, helped by an increased customer base and acquisitions. The growth came from a previously deployed strategic plan, which has now been completed.

Under the line, Banco Santander held almost 2.1 billion euros after the fourth quarter. Added to the previous three quarters was a profit of 7.8 billion euros for the whole of 2018. This means that the annual revenue increased by 18 percent. Banking was successful in virtually all markets where the bank operates. The British branch of the bank was still struggling with difficult market conditions due to the forthcoming Brexit.

The Spanish financial group not only performed better than analysts had anticipated, the solid profit surge also enabled Banco Santander to improve its own capital buffer. In April, the bank will issue a new strategy update.
