All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Discontinues Sports Programming

Representatives of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company has officially stated about discontinuing sports programing. In addition 460 employees will be fired.  At the same time Sportbox.Ru web resource will also be closed. At the moment the rights sports programs broadcasting belongs to Gazprom-Media. It is yet unknown whether the company is going to launch new website. It is known that All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company will fire all employees from sports programming team by October 1. Only one of them received an offer to work in a new project launched by Gazprom-Media. The future of the rest staff is unclear. It should be noted that Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered Premier Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the Head of Gazprom Alexey Miller and head manager of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Oleg Dobrodedov to create a single Federal Sports Channel by August 1. It will broadcast on Russia 2 frequency. New channel programming will include not only live sports events but also several other projects related to various kinds of sports which will include auto sports, fitness, diet tips, sporting equipment and more.
