Alberta lifts provincial state of emergency two months after wildfires began

The state of emergency was declared at 3:57 p.m. on May 4. One day before the citizens of the oilsands capital of Fort McMurray were evacuated, so the government could take action.

In total, about 90,000 people in the region had to be evacuated, and nearly 2,400 residential and other buildings were destroyed.

Before this case, the state of emergency has been declared in Alberta during the floods of 2013.

Now, the state of emergency and the evacuation order have been lifted, and people started returning to their normal lives.
