Speaking at the Money20/20 Asia conference, which ended March 15, CEO Tony Fernandes confirmed that the operator was "building a payment platform" to "marry" its reward scheme "Big Loyalty", with the potential for ICO tokens. AirAsia is the second major announcement of ICO plans over the past four months, following social messenger application Telegram, which is currently beginning a multibillion dollar sale. Despite the fact that the regulation of the ICO is under the scrutiny of governments around the world, Fernandes remains confident that he can focus on the current and future climate. In Malaysia, where AirAsia is listed, in February, regulators introduced new rules for cryptocurrency, following closely the ICO schemes under its jurisdiction. Fernandes did not mention how much he would intend to increase if ICO of AirAsia should do ahead. |
